Miss America

I cannot believe I am home already!  It all feels like one giant dream!  From the first day we contestants arrived, we were "go, go, go!"  But it was a good feeling to be busy because there were so many fun things to do! We immediately turned in all our competition clothing in the changing tent and we were officially Miss America property!  Since we had so many things on our itinerary, I'll tell you it all in a nutshell (as small as I can make it).

Day 1 was Thursday and we were actually able to relax.  Later that evening was the official Miss America Arrival Ceremony!  It was held in the Planet Hollywood and the staff had set up a stage for us.  We each came up as contestants and introduced ourselves and obviously took loads of pictures.  Fun night!

The next day, we started some rehearsals but nighttime was the highlight by far! We all were invited to see Terry Fator's show! I was so excited because I have seen his show before and he is purely hilarious!  He is SO talented and has an amazing voice!  His show was hilarious and so fun to watch!  A highlight of the night was during one of the songs where we were all hitting big balloons around in the audience and one of the balloons popped on Miss DC's crown! So fun!  We then got a group picture with him and got to meet personally meet him as well!
Saturday, we had more rehearsals for the show, but then again, the highlight of the day was the Fashion Show!  We were all taken to the Fashion Show Mall and we all were dressed up in our best, ready to walk the catwalk!  There were so many people there waiting for us- it was such a thrill.  The best part of the show was that the runway rose from the ground with us standing on it.  It was very dramatic! :) It was SO nice to see my favorite business manager, Chelle cheering me on from the audience!  It was also an honor to model a premiere piece by Johnny Paul Vera, whom I met a couple months ago at Mia Bella Couture.  He wondered if I could wear his dress and coat at Miss America and I found the perfect place- the fashion show! (naturally)  We finished the night off by signing autographs with my Miss America sistas.  The night was surely NOT over!  We were taken straight to Buca Di Beppo to enjoy some more festivities! We were fed until we couldn't eat any more, especially with the dessert!  A fun tradition Buca has always done with the Miss America contestants is to get every girl to dip her hand in marinera sauce and stamp it on a canvas next to her name.  This becomes a great keepsake for Buca throughout the years!  I have to say it was a first to dip my hand in a big bowl of marinera sauce!  At one point, Miss Florida Laura McKeeman (whom I LOVE!) and I were taken in the back of the kitchen where the marinera sauce was cooked in a big hot cauldron!

From Sunday on, we had rehearsals, rehearsals, and more rehearsals!  Monday was my interview day and then Tuesday started off the preliminary competitions!  I had SO MUCH fun with the other contestants!  My home-girls have always been Miss KY Jessica Casebolt, Miss NJ Lindsey Petrosh, and Miss MA Taylor Kinzler and I love them all forever!  Miss DE Alyssa Murray is HILARIOUS!  She was always there to make me laugh.  Miss AZ, I had so much fun dancing with you!  To my roommate, Miss MO Tippe Emmott, you are a sweetheart and I am so lucky to know you.  Thanks for being there for me during the fun and the hard and emotional parts.  To Miss FL Laura McKeeman, I will never forget our 3.5 hour-long Amway Media Tour at 3:30 in the morning!  I look forward to launching our new show, "One L of a Show".  We're going to be rich someday!  To Sam, Art, and Marc- thank you for looking out for us and making sure that we were happy and felt special.  Congrats on your new Miss America, Mallory! We love her!

I think a major highlight of the whole week was when Miss Montana Alexis Wineman was picked as America's Choice and put in the Top 16!  When her name was called, we all started crying because were SOOOO happy for her!  We all know her story and her passion for Autism and we were so happy that she was able to get her voice out about her diagnosis.  Also, a girl from Montana, one of the lowest populated states, actually earned the most votes??!  We were amazed and so happy for her! We all probably looked like sore losers, but it was the exact opposite.
